David Hansen performs on drum set and percussion in varying settings from jazz (Modern to all styles), Latin, funk to early New Orleans jazz (Trad jazz/Dixieland) and 2nd Line brass bands. In addition to performing he is a band-leader, music contractor and music agent.

He has performed internationally and locally with many early jazz ensembles including the Original Dixieland Jazz Band, Onward Brass Band, Tim Laughlin and his own Garden District Band and New Orleans Spice Brass Band.
Look for David performing in a modern jazz setting with his Garden District Band seven nights a week at Houston's Restaurant on St. Charles Avenue beginning at 6:45pm nightly
Performing jazz has a never-ending learning curve that is extremely fulfilling.
All styles of drumming require a sound foundation to move forward to a professional level. Jazz is a performance art-form that constantly requests a deeper understanding as you learn and grow to understand this musical genre.

Words and Music by David W. Hansen (select the text under each song title to purchase and download - thank you and enjoy!)
This is the lead sheet (melody, harmony and lyrics) that David's Garden District Band uses each night on their steady performance. David Hansen's Garden District Trio has performed seven nights a week since 2006 (over twelve years) at Houston's Restaurant in New Orleans.
David Hansen's lyrics fit into any love setting: an adult can remember their time as a child with his/her parents, a parent can reflect on cherished time spent with their children, anyone or anything you have loved dearly, you can also reflect on these words if thinking about Jesus, God or your religion. They are lyrics of true love.
This song as performed by Hansen's Garden District Band is a bass and drum feature on the melody and then repeats with either piano or Horns, building intensity with each section. It can also be a solo vocalist or vocal duet feature.
